The Global Supply Chain group at Leidos is excited to announce a career opportunity for a Senior Material Cost Estimator to join our dynamic Supply Chain Proposal Strategy organization. While local support in Huntsville, AL is preferred, we embrace a hybrid work model, offering the flexibility to work either remotely or from the office based on project needs and personal preferences. Collaborating in person is encouraged for tasks requiring intensive teamwork.
As a crucial member of our team, you will leverage your expertise in supply chain management, procurement, enterprise technology, and project management to drive new business proposals and strategic sourcing initiatives. This role is pivotal in seeking to win new business for Leidos.
Your responsibilities will include gathering customer requirements, managing the RFx process, facilitating negotiations, and estimating material costs. The ideal candidate will exhibit confidence, take ownership of proposals, and effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
Other potential duties may encompass Supplier Management, Business Process Re-engineering, and the deployment of Procurement Tools. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time.
Primary Responsibilities
Deliver timely and accurate material pricing for proposal efforts.
Oversee the request for quote process, ensuring compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).
Meet cost savings and avoidance targets by employing strong negotiation skills.
Conduct data analytics and interpret large datasets to effectively price Bill of Materials (BOM).
Collaborate within a matrixed organization to support engineering, program management, and financial functions.
Basic Qualifications
A college degree related to supply chain, logistics, business management, engineering, or a similar field with 8-12 years of relevant experience; or equivalent experience and specialized training.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, as complex data analytics are conducted using Excel functions.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
US Citizenship is mandatory, with the capability to obtain a secret clearance.
Basic knowledge of microelectronics, build-to-print, raw materials, IT hardware, software, cloud technologies, Cyber, and XaaS.
Basic understanding of creating complex solicitations and conducting moderate complexity price/cost analyses.
Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and work under tight deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in procurement, pricing, or subcontracting, with a successful record of developing RFx’s that align with FAR requirements.
A background as a buyer, procurement agent, or subcontracts administrator is advantageous.
Understanding of acquiring materials and components, including finished products, raw materials, fabricated parts, electronic components, and equipment.
Possession of security clearance.
Experience or interest in data analytics, business intelligence dashboards, IT project management, or familiarity with PowerBI is preferred.
