The Catering Cook plays a crucial role in the Athletic Dining and Catering team, responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality meals for university athletes and special events. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about culinary arts, has a strong understanding of food safety, and thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. We are looking for a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills who is dedicated to delivering outstanding service. Key Responsibilities: Food Preparation:

Prepare and cook a diverse range of menu items, adhering to established recipes and culinary standards. Menu Execution:

Assist in planning and executing daily menus for both athletic dining and catering events. Quality Control:

Ensure all food is prepared to the highest quality standards in terms of taste and presentation. Food Safety:

Strictly adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment. Inventory Management:

Monitor food stock and communicate with management to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained. Collaboration:

Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations during service. Equipment Maintenance:

Maintain a clean and organized workstation and assist with cleaning kitchen equipment. This position may require flexibility in scheduling, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on the athletic and event schedule. Qualifications: Proven experience as a Cook or in a similar culinary position. Knowledge of various cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment. Understanding of food safety and sanitation procedures; ServSafe certification is a plus. Strong communication and teamwork abilities. Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 pounds. This position may involve physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and prolonged walking and standing. Uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be required. The Catering Cook will be part of the team at John Paul Jones Arena, where we strive to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our university athletes.
