Subscription Billing Software Engineering Manager
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to either: Warren, Austin, Atlanta, or Mountain View three times per week. As the Subscription Billing Software Engineering Manager, you will lead the implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of GM's enterprise billing systems, primarily leveraging Zuora and RevPro. You will oversee full lifecycle implementations while also owning and operating the solution post-deployment, ensuring seamless integration with GM's digital commerce platforms. You'll partner closely with Digital Products Engineering Commerce, Architecture, Finance, and Customer platforms, directly impacting customer experience, billing accuracy, and platform reliability across global operations. What You'll Do Lead the end-to-end implementation and ongoing operation of Zuora Subscription Billing and RevPro Revenue Recognition solutions. Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and strategic direction to a team of software engineers. Design and deploy Zuora Workflows to automate billing operations and improve efficiency. Integrate billing systems using microservices and distributed architectures in partnership with Architecture teams. Perform code reviews, contribute to API development, and guide engineering best practices using Java/Spring Boot. Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and observability frameworks (e.g., Datadog). Ensure adherence to SOX compliance frameworks, controls, and audit requirements. Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications) 5+ years of managerial experience in subscription billing or revenue operations. 3+ full lifecycle implementations of Zuora Subscription Billing and/or RevPro. Strong software engineering background with hands-on coding experience. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Hands-on experience with Zuora Workflow, eCommerce integrations, and Java/Spring Boot. Familiarity with SOX compliance frameworks and financial audit processes. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, observability tools (Datadog), and incident management protocols.
