The Impact You'll Make in this Role As a Project Manager, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: Leading cross-functional New Product Introduction (NPI) project teams to successful completion of projects. Includes project scoping, milestone identification, gate review preparation, and management of team to project cycle time and on-time launch targets. Possessing expertise in project leadership that is recognized within the Business. Demonstrates competency in project leadership at an individual Project level. Requires use of the 3M New Product Introduction (NPI) process and associated systems and project management tools within the project team and the Division. Maintains knowledge of external activities in project management and tool development and applies learnings to ongoing projects. Serving as mentor/coach to new team members, local management, and stakeholders. Provides training on existing project leadership tools and methodologies to team members, typically exempt and non-exempt employees across multiple disciplines. May present to the broader 3M internal and external project leadership community. Provides direct task-level guidance to team members as necessary. Maintaining expertise in a functional area (technical, marketing, sales, etc.) sufficient to carry out project leadership duties and to effectively leverage a network of company resources. Updates self and co-workers on trends relevant to the project. Authors or initiates appropriate documentation including reports and presentations. Your Skills and Expertise To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start). Eight (8) years of manufacturing, product engineering, and/or product development experience in a private, public, government or military environment. Three (3) years of experience in project leadership. Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include: PMP (Project Management Professional) certification. Functional expertise and project leadership skills in Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) and DMAIC Six Sigma projects. Experience within the Electrical, Renewable Energy, or Automotive industries. Work location: On-site, 4-days a week 3M Austin, TX or 3M Maplewood, MN Job Duties allow for some remote work but require candidate to live in/near 3M Austin, TX or 3M Maplewood, MN locations and to be on-site 4-days a week Travel: May include up to 10% Relocation Assistance: May be authorized Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
