Senior Electrical Engineer
In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's electrical engineering aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, and evaluation of electrical components and processes. Your recommendations will resolve technical issues and ensure uniquely complex requirements of a project's electrical engineering aspects are met. This position is for a Senior Electrical Engineer, located in Ogden, UT, who will prepare designs for electrical systems associated with DOD and USAF projects. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. This role will specifically support the USAF Sentinel program Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase. Major Responsibilities: Evaluates, selects, and applies standard electrical engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria for a small size project or assignment in support of a global business unit or staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission and storage of electricity utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, and Standard Application Programs (SAPs) Prepares or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals Coordinates electrical engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups Provides assistance to project and construction management in identifying and complying with project electrical requirements and in addressing issues as they arise during project execution Completes electrical documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability Education and Experience Requirements: Level I: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant work experience. Must be a United States Citizen. Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Level II: Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant work experience. Must be a United States Citizen. Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, drawings, calculations, and specifications for Electrical systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building Electrical systems. US citizenship is required per contract requirement. Possess active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance. Experience with Microsoft office programs, and other common computer programs. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). Ability to utilize engineering and office automation tools effectively. Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides, codes, and standards. Broad knowledge of the application of Electrical engineering design principles. Strong knowledge of electrical systems for part of, or all of, the responsibilities listed above. Strong understanding of engineering drawings, systems calculations, equipment sizing and cable sizing. Strong knowledge of power systems load modeling and analysis. Preferred Qualifications: Level I: MS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with 6-8 years of relevant experience. Level II: MS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university with 8-11 years of relevant experience. Registered Professional Engineer in USA (Electrical Engineering). Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000. Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense. Experience executing engineering design with Smartplant 3D. Experience performing calculations with ETAP. Understanding of Mechanical and Process engineering discipline drawings and system calculations, as related to electrical design requirements. Intermediate knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntact. Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide. Secret clearance is preferred, but not required.
