Job Summary: As a Fence Estimator, you will leverage your extensive experience to prepare detailed and accurate estimates for complex commercial and industrial fencing projects. This senior-level role involves analyzing project plans and specifications, coordinating with clients and vendors, and ensuring that project bids align with company goals for profitability and efficiency. You will also oversee project management aspects to ensure successful execution from bid to completion. Key Responsibilities: Lead Estimation Efforts:
Develop comprehensive and precise cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment required for large-scale fencing projects. Review and Analyze Documentation:
Evaluate project plans, specifications, and proposals to identify scope, opportunities, and risks. Client Interaction:
Build strong relationships with clients by presenting proposals, clarifying project details, and addressing inquiries. Material Procurement:
Source materials, negotiate pricing with suppliers, and issue purchase orders to ensure cost efficiency. Project Oversight:
Collaborate with project managers and field crews to ensure projects are executed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Quality Assurance:
Conduct audits of installation crews and fabricators to ensure actual performance aligns with estimates and company standards. Team Leadership:
Mentor and support junior estimators, fostering their growth and development within the company. Process Improvement:
Continuously refine estimation and project management processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Qualifications: Experience:
Minimum of 4 years in commercial estimating, with a focus on fencing, guardrails, metal fabrication, or related industries. Industry Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of fencing materials, installation methods, and industry best practices. Experience with specialty items, such as custom metalwork or structural steel, is a plus. Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and estimation software. Experience with Bluebeam Revu is highly desirable. Blueprint Proficiency:
Advanced blueprint reading and material takeoff skills. Project Management:
Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects, including scheduling, budgeting, and team coordination. Communication Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities to interact effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams. Location:
Must reside within a 1-hour commute of Chicago, as on-site coordination and client meetings are occasionally required. Additional Preferences: Experience mentoring or managing junior team members. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus but not required. Familiarity with industry-standard estimating tools and techniques.
