Senior Protection & Control Design Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Protection and Control Design Engineer who will independently evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. This candidate should have 6+ years of relevant professional experience.Responsibilities:Lead a team of electrical engineers on protection and control design projects for transmission, generation, and distribution by helping put together protection and control drawings, relay settings, coordination studies, reports, etc.Interact with clients and take a leadership role in varying aspects of different projects.Be involved with project site evaluations, preparing engineering scope documents and writing technical equipment specifications as needed.Create relay one-lines, three-lines, control schematics, wiring diagrams, relay panel arrangements, and cable schedules, etc.Design AC/DC control schematics.Create technical specifications for major equipment, such as power transformers, power circuit breakers, control house, and other high-voltage substation related materials.Provide engineering, construction, and testing & commissioning support for projects.Perform engineering calculations such as voltage drop, CT burden and saturation, lighting, short circuit, etc.Apply field mark-ups of projects as-built drawings with minimal supervision.Assist project manager to develop scope of work and conceptual design for the projects.Work with the engineering team to meet project specifications, cost control, and schedule objectives.Design protection schemes for distance, overcurrent, breaker failure, line current differential, bus and transformer differential.Design communication protection schemes such as POTT, DCB, PUTT, BFTT, etc.Review project schedules and work with project engineer to ensure projects remain on schedule.Properly use the document management system.Apply corporate standard engineering practices.Qualifications:B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience, and must be registered as a Professional Engineer (PE)6+ years of relative work experience in developing protection and control designs for transmission, distribution, and generation systems.Experience designing protection panels using SEL microprocessor relays for line, transformer, bus, feeder, based protection, and control systems.Knowledge of relay protection and control design fundamentals such as distance, overcurrent, breaker failure, line current differential, bus and transformer differential.Proficiency in designing communication protection schemes such as POTT, DCB, PUTT, BFTT, etc.Ability to design relaying one-lines, three-lines, control schematics, wiring/interconnection diagrams, and cable schedules.Knowledge of relevant codes and standards such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, NEMA and ANSIFamiliarity with ASPEN modeling, relay coordination, short circuit studies, setting microprocessor-based relays, or field commissioning of electrical systems.Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to interact directly with clients.
