Cashier Position
The Cashier is responsible for checking out customer's merchandise through the POS registers. They perform various customer service activities, including greeting and acknowledging all customers in a prompt and friendly manner, handling merchandise with care. Essential functions include: supporting a strong commitment to world class customer service, ensuring a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers, approaching all customers in a friendly and outgoing manner, remaining product knowledgeable, remaining aware of advertised sales, stocking and straightening shelves in the immediate area when not directly ringing up product, providing a legendary experience for every customer by assisting customers in making buying decisions, and all other duties as assigned. Experience/qualifications include a minimum high school education or equivalent experience. Knowledge, skills, and ability include calculating figures such as discounts and making change to customers, communicating in a friendly and professional manner to customers and other associates, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with management, coworkers, and customers, and operating a computerized point of sale register system. Travel requirements are N/A. Physical requirements include standing and/or walking during shifts, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, ramps, etc., communicating with others to exchange information, repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers, working in low or high temperatures, working in outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind, working in noisy environments, and moving and lifting objects up to 20 pounds, occasionally up to 50 pounds or more utilizing a team lift as needed. Independent judgment is required to perform tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems and often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
