Sustaining Engineering Manager
Position Summary The Sustaining Engineering Manager leads the ongoing support and continuous improvement of released products, ensuring their reliability, serviceability, and lifecycle performance. This role oversees a cross-functional team of mechanical and electrical engineers and is responsible for managing technical projects, developing upgrade and refresh programs, and supporting service engineering needs. The manager also drives project planning, reporting, and budgeting while ensuring alignment with business goals and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Lead the development and launch of upgrade programs to enhance service offerings, product performance, and extend lifecycle. Manage refresh programs for aging platforms to ensure continued support and compliance. Oversee engineering-to-order (ETO) solutions for service, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery. Lead and mentor a team of mechanical and electrical engineers in executing sustaining engineering initiatives. Oversee sustaining technical projects, ensuring alignment with product strategy and service needs. Develop and maintain project dashboards to track status, milestones, and roadblocks. Develop and manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring resource alignment and timely execution. Service and Support Infrastructure Manage tools and test equipment calibration to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards. Define and establish spare parts setup for new and existing products. Oversee part number creation and maintenance using PD Cloud. Identify and validate substitute and alternate parts to mitigate supply chain risks and support continuity. Responsible for the Change Management system, supporting both Change Originator and Change Analyst. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (Master's preferred) 5+ years of experience in sustaining or product engineering, with at least 2 years in a leadership role Proven experience managing cross-functional engineering teams and technical projects Strong understanding of product lifecycle management (PLM) systems, preferably PD Cloud Experience with ETO processes, service engineering, and field support Proficiency in project management tools and reporting dashboards Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills Time Travel Required 15% travel is required The successful candidate will embrace Vertiv's Core Principals & Behaviors to help execute our Strategic Priorities.
