Job Summary:
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to collaborate with our engineering team, fabricators, and installers building the first of its kind biorefinery of tomorrow. The ideal candidate will have a background in petrochemical/refineries (bio or otherwise), or other complex engineered systems (aerospace, defense, etc). In this position, you will be responsible for designing and controlling the demonstration facility, including reactors, sensors, and custom equipment.
Responsibilities:
· Evaluates and designs electrical systems and components by applying principles of electrical engineering, including circuit design, power systems, and electronics.
· Coordinating work with in-house and outside engineering contractors.
· Develops electrical system specifications, documentation, and schematics for fabrication, review, and integration of electrical components.
· Collects, analyzes, and summarizes data to improve system performance and support the development of future systems / processes.
· Reviews designs, documentation, and integration plans to meet future operational needs.
· Coordinates with maintenance and service teams to diagnose and resolve electrical system issues, ensuring effective operation of electrical subsystems and components.
· Complies with internal standards, industry regulations, and safety requirements, including OSHA and other government policies & regulations.
· Participates in hazard analysis (HAZOP) reviews and incident investigations.
· Provides discipline input and equipment selection oversight to engineering projects.
· Interacting daily with project team members developing and executing project objectives.
· Participates in factory acceptance tests and site acceptance tests overseeing integration of different subsystems.
· Participates in commissioning and startup activities, including loop checking and calibration of instruments and analyzers.
· Conferring with management and project stakeholders throughout a project’s life cycle.
· Other job duties as assigned.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field.
· At least 5 years of experience working in electrical engineering with petrochemical, aerospace, or defense experience preferred.
· Knowledge of system-level testing and validation.
· Proficiency with electrical design software for system design, schematics, and analysis.
· Experience with circuit design, control systems, power distribution, and instrumentation.
· Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
· Experience with multi-disciplinary systems / integration.
· Strong understanding of electrical safety standards, codes (e.g., NEC), and compliance requirements.
· Project management / project engineer experience a plus.
· Familiarity with third party EPC and Engineering partners.
· Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
· Preference will be given to local candidates.
Physical Demands:
Frequent lifting and moving of items up to fifty (50) pounds, bending, reaching above shoulder level, climbing stairs, pulling, prolonged standing or sitting may be required. Must have safe work habits and perform all duties in accordance with company safety policies and practices.
