The Role
As a Food Service Coordinator, you will contribute to the smooth operation of the school's food program by preparing and serving nutritious meals. You will ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students and staff in the school cafeteria.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare prepackaged meals and serve meals according to menus and recipes, ensuring food is served on time and in appropriate portions.
Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment including sanitizing surfaces, cleaning kitchen equipment, and ensuring the kitchen is always in compliance with city health codes.
Operate kitchen equipment such as stoves, retherm ovens, freezers, refrigerators and mixers safely and effectively, and immediately report any kitchen equipment malfunctions.
Follow food safety protocols for food storage, handling, and preparation.
Coordinate receiving and storing food deliveries, ensuring proper inventory management and create an efficient food rotation based on student satisfaction.
Ensure meal presentation is appealing and meets school nutrition standards.
Complete meal reimbursement submissions based on FPRs and scholar attendance.
Follow established procedures for maintaining the cleanliness and safety of the cafeteria area.
Adhere to dietary restrictions or special meal plans for students as needed.
Coordinate cafe food service tasks, including meal ordering and restocking food and supplies.
Participate in training programs to enhance food handling and safety knowledge.
Perform all duties as assigned by the Deputy Chief Operating Office, Operations Manager, and Executive Leadership Team.
Qualifications
Must have or be eligible and willing to obtain a Food Handler's License.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on teamwork.
Ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment.
Previous experience in food service or a school setting is preferred.
Willingness to follow instructions and take initiative when needed.
Strong attention to detail, particularly in maintaining food safety and cleanliness.
Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude while interacting with students and staff.
