The Biomedical Research Education Office (BREO) team in the Office of the Associate VP for Research seeks a Grants Officer with an interest in grant administration and research education. This position will serve to support the submission and management of institutional training grants and graduate fellowships.

The Training Grants and Fellowships team works with faculty and students to support pre and post award activities related to institutional training grants and fellowships. This position will be part of a team supporting these grants. Team engagement varies with the needs of each proposal but can include, data collection, budget preparation, reviewing program plans, and aiding with strategic decisions. The position will also oversee training related programs including the Health Sciences Fellowship Workshop and coordinating program evaluation in collaboration with the Genetic Science Learning Center (GLSC).

This person will be expected to perform all essential functions outlined below under minimal supervision.

Responsibilities 3. Effective communication and project management.4. Ensures federal compliance by reviewing procedures/policies. Asks questions/provides answers demonstrating greater depth of knowledge of University and sponsor requirements5. Lead in collaborative work with other teams in the unit or on special projects with minimal manager support.6. Serve as a liaison between departments and central administration offices on training grant-related processes and problem- solving (e.g., Human Resources, OSP, Accounts Payable, Grants and Contracts Accounting).7. Work with BREO team members to manage the Health Sciences Fellowship Workshop.

1. Proficient with all the duties and responsibilities of a GCO II2. Assist with the development of complex training and education related proposals, including institutional training grants and graduate fellowships. Completes complex award administration activities, including award set-up, modification, and maintenance. Work directly with faculty and trainees to prepare and submit proposals. Review documents and proposals for completeness Coordinate budget preparation and design with researchers and departments Effectively utilize Cayuse and other sponsor submission portals Assist with Post-Submission and "Just-in-Time" requests, as requested by sponsors. Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines. Keep OSP, management, and other stakeholders apprised of project status. Identify and effectively communicate issues that need further discussion/escalation to resolve. Provide expertise and guidance to faculty and staff on proposal development and submissions. Maintain a current knowledge of changing institutional policies. Maintain a current knowledge of federal requirements and policies. Demonstrates the ability to independently research and effectively advise faculty on sponsor and institutional research administration policies and requirements. Compile and report data for institutional dashboards as related to graduate student and postdoctoral education and training. Coordinate training grant (e.g., NIH T32) evaluation with PIs and Genetics Science Learning Center (GSLC) Work to develop a coordinated trainee application process for training grants (e.g., NIH T32) In collaboration with departments and central administrative offices, look for opportunities to enhance, streamline, and standardize processes. Work with Training Programs team, Training Grant PIs, and departmental administrators to navigate standard post award activities including, annual progress reports, training grant offer letters, XTrain Appointments and Terminations, transition of payroll records, benefits, and tuition.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree + two years of related experience

or

10 years of related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).
