Hours / Work Times

7 Hours Per Day (7:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. includes 30 minutes unpaid lunch)

190 Days Per Year (180 student days / 10 holidays)

This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 06/13/2025.

This position is expected to begin August 26, 2025

Must meet Paraeducator Employment Requirements as follows*: Be at least eighteen (18) years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent;

AND Must meet one or more of the following: Have received a passing score of 455 or higher on the Education Testing Service ParaPro Assessment (ETS test/PRAXIS);

or Hold an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university;

or Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university;

or Have completed a Paraeducator Apprenticeship Program (program must be registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council). *If you do not meet the required qualifications listed above, your name will be screened out from the list of qualified candidates .

Upon hire, new paraeducators will be required to complete state required training offered through Evergreen School District.

Salary Placement:

New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the classification salary range. However, employees who have verified prior years of service of similar occupational experience may receive experience credit towards salary step placement.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Under the supervision of the program instructor(s) and Cascadia Technical Academy (CTA) Director, the instructional paraeducator will schedule clinics, dentists, hygienists, and patients, order materials and supplies, maintain inventory, and complete and maintain program paperwork and records as requested. The instructional paraeducator will perform dental assisting tasks and coordination of providers on clinic days and will be responsible to assist in the supervision of students on an individual and small group basis.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Assist the program instructor in supervising and working with students as follows: Communicate effectively with students, staff, and the general public. Schedule clinics, dentists, hygienists, and patients. Operate the computer to create Excel spreadsheets, letters and emails. Assist in providing safety supervision of students based on instructor's directions. Assist in organizing and preparing a variety of instructional materials. Assist in evaluating and specifying direction of instruction so as to maximize each student's potential. Maintain accurate data on student progress. Implement behavioral management strategies using the emphasis and techniques that have been outlined by the instructor. Perform inventory process and other year-end program activities. Attend various training sessions as required to keep program within OSHA/WISHA guidelines and laws. Perform dental assisting tasks and coordination of providers on clinic days. Perform First Aid/CPR when necessary. Place orders for dental supplies and equipment. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform other related duties as assigned by instructors.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY:

Personal computer, typewriter, telephone, copy machines, and all other tools and equipment necessary to perform the essential functions as listed above.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of two years of full time employment (4,000 hours in dental industry) as a dental assistant within the last six (6) years. Active Registered Dental Assistant status and maintain status. Scheduling and Insurance billing experience preferred. Eaglesoft, Microsoft Word and Excel software experience preferred. Certified Dental Assistant certificate or NELDA Certificate. Demonstrated ability to work with and maintain the common instruments and equipment used in the dental profession. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and patients both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse groups, to include high school students, dentists, hygienists, patients, various instructors and vendors. Must possess personal characteristics of flexibility, initiative, cooperativeness, confidentiality, and assertiveness. Demonstrated ability to perform under conditions of constant interruption. Must possess organizational skills and the ability to follow through. Demonstrated ability to operate the office equipment as listed in the tools and equipment area above. Demonstrated ability to coordinate lab and clinic activities for students with limited supervision. Must possess current First Aid/CPR certification, or be able to acquire within 45 days of employment. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with others as part of a team. Willingness to complete a "Learning to Learn" class. Willingness to complete an "Elements of Teaching" course and complete and participate in other related staff development training.
