Bus Driver
Qualifications
Must have a valid Type B commercial driver's license with a passenger and school bus endorsement
High school diploma or equivalent
Certificate issued by State Department of Education
Must meet all physical and mental health requirements as established by Mississippi law and the Jackson Public School Board
Must be insurable by district insurance carrier
Must pass police record check
Must be able to perform duties accurately when in stressful situations
Pass drug screening test as outlined by district policy
Reports To
Transportation Supervisor Essential Functions Obeys all traffic laws Maintains discipline when students are on bus, within legal limits Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses, both district and state Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority with proper forms Operates on assigned schedule Keeps assigned bus clean Checks bus before each operation for mechanical defects Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness Discharges students only at authorized stops Exercises responsible leadership when on school trips in or out of district Transports only authorized students Reports all accidents and completes required reports Enforces all district and state regulations regarding student behavior on bus; example, smoking, eating, being in seat while bus is in motion Is courteous to coworkers, students, and administrators Is prompt Performs other related duties as requested or assigned
