HVAC Preventative Maintenance Specialist (Level II)

Full-Time, Hourly - Non-exempt
Pay Scale:
$21/hour - $26/hour
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented HVAC Preventative Maintenance Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing routine maintenance and inspections on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Your preventative maintenance skills help us prevent system failures, reduce downtime, and maintain a high level of service quality for our clients.
Education/Certification Requirements: High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED), technical certification or training in HVAC systems preferred. Experience Requirements:
2-3 years experience in HVAC maintenance or a related field. Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, components, and diagnostic tools. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Effective communication skills and a customer-focused approach. Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently. Other Qualifications:
This position requires a valid Florida driver's license, and eligibility for coverage under Authority fleet auto insurance. Duties/Responsibilities of Position:
Follow an agreed upon schedule to conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC systems for all SHA, SHFC and SHMC properties. Inspect air filters monthly and replace them as needed, typically every 1-3 months, to maintain good air quality and system efficiency. Some filters can be cleaned and reused; follow the manufacturer's recommendations. Clean the evaporator and condenser coils annually to remove dust and debris, which can impair system efficiency. Check and calibrate the thermostat to ensure accurate temperature readings and efficient system operation. Keep condensate lines flushed out and drain pans free of debris. Inspect to ensure drain trap is properly installed outside. Check the heat exchanger for cracks or leaks, which can affect system safety and efficiency. Check refrigerant levels and recharge as needed, following manufacturer specifications. Ductwork: Inspect and clean ductwork to ensure proper airflow and reduce dust and allergens. Vents and Registers: Ensure that vents and registers are open and unobstructed for proper air distribution. Visual Inspection: Check for any visible signs of wear, damage, or leaks in the HVAC system components, including ducts, pipes, and electrical connections.
