Job Description
Riceland Foods is looking for an Blending Process Manager. The Blending Process Area Manager is responsible for the oversight and direction of operators and general utility personnel in the Blending location. This manager will be responsible for instructing these employees throughout the performance of their duties to meet predetermined standards and production objectives set by management. The position will work to execute the operational plans arranged by the Manager of Soy Processing Operations and Director of Soy Processing Operations. Position applies management and leadership skills and resources to meet daily production goals and overall efficiency improvements. This Manager has the responsibility for continuous improvements in the department supporting, coordinating, and facilitating the necessary improvement activities that best meet our overall business goals and daily efficiencies. This individual will assist in fostering sustainable frameworks providing critical leadership and support involved in multifarious processes. Hired professional will provide problem-solving skills and risk-based management decisions from the grain preparation operations to Soy Crush Operations. Hiree will also assist in overseeing the Meal Loadout Operations and be the backup personnel for the Meal Loadout Manger. The qualified Manager is tasked with direct supervision of personnel in multiple departments providing high visibility and a hands-on approach when interacting with employees to ensure the best optimal work environment and compliance with regulatory, corporate, and division policies.
Job Duties
Organizational and Personnel
1. Maintain a safe work area for all employees ensuring employees have necessary PPE and training to perform all tasks safely.
2. Foster a healthy work environment while maintaining a professional appearance.
3. Direct employees as needed to achieve work place objectives.
4. Document and report accidents, incidents, near misses and other related items, as needed in accordance with Soy Division policies and level of severity.
5. Transport employees for emergency medical requirements, drug screens and other items as required during the work shift.
6. Account for employees to be in assigned work areas fulfilling job responsibilities.
Production Activities
1. Operate areas according to schedules and production rates as planned by Manager of Crush Operations and Director of Soy Processing Operations while using efficient and economical methods.
2. Assist in direction of loading schedules & trucks in associated areas.
3. While on shift, periodically fill in for employee unplanned vacancies in associated areas to continue normal operations.
4. Coordinate employee schedules and daily employee management.
5. Communicate daily and annual operational maintenance needs to department staff, division maintenance staff, and instrumental/automation technical staff.
6. Communicate and coordinate daily sanitation efforts in multiple departments.
7. Regularly consult and maintain relationships with internal and external operation and equipment experts, engineers, vendors, contractors, and regulatory compliance officers when necessary.
8. Be available to communicate and respond to plant emergencies
9. Able to troubleshoot equipment and understand all plant flows with the understanding in determining best action.
10. Understand all process targets and operational limits to the point of directing and overseeing operators and their actions directly affecting product flow and value.
11. Teach, lead, and supervise crews to understand their level of involvement in meeting consistency and efficiency in various plant run times and rates.
12. Perform confined space work, hot-work, and work requiring man-lift assistance.
13. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
Buildings and Grounds Activities
1. Maintain sanitary conditions in all work areas complying with food safety and quality requirements to meet and or exceed corporate, customer, regulatory, third party or other standards.
2. Coordinate and direct activities for quick response to products spills and cleanup.
3. Make regular, scheduled rounds in all areas ensuring areas are in expected condition and operation.
4. Provide direction to operators and other employees in management plans of sanitary cleanup.
5. Direct employees to ensure they complete eMaint Sanitation schedules during designated shifts.
Administrative Activities
1. Manage personnel, oversee the inventory and flat-storage warehouse, equipment movement, and shipment of soybean meal for both railcars and hopper bottom trucking-trailers.
2. Process the inventory data and intake of First In First Out soybeans from multiple grain silos.
3. Assist and understand Meal Loadout Documentation and Paperwork processing
4. Management of all supplies and associated product inventories.
5. Issuance and control of PPE and other resources and respective inventories.
6. Direct supervision of all employees on shift for safe and proper execution of operational plans, wearing proper PPE, and disciplinary action as needed to ensure proper work place safety environments are achieved.
7. Periodic training of employees on applicable, related topics.
8. Monitor inclement weather, emergency conditions or other unusual situations preparing for leadership and direction of other team members on site.
9. Facilitate and create employee shift schedules.
10. Able to comprehend and work well within various RFI databases including but not limited to ADP, ERP, eMaint, and Alchemy.
11. Recommend employees for promotion, transfer, and/or termination.
12. Monitor personnel time, facilitate employee disciplinary action, and conduct other human resources activities as needed.
Relationships
1. Work with plant personnel, employees, management and others as required to achieve objectives set forth by site management.
2. Keep other area managers informed of all relevant and beneficial information.
3. Encourage and foster positive communal relations with operators and area management
Other
1. Lead efforts in troubleshooting production opportunities.
2. Provide assistance when needed to help lead tours, audits, or other regulatory compliant visits from outside area employees and management
3. Respect and professional dignity should be held when communicating with farmer members, truck drivers, or other outside individuals.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervises 4 non-supervisory positions within the Blending department, assists and fills in for the meal loadout manager in supervising 11 non-supervisory positions in the Meal Loadout department, assist in supervising 2-3 non-supervisory positions in the Defat area, and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include possible interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Education Requirements
Education required: High school diploma
1. High School Diploma
Education Preferred:
1. College degree (4 years) in related field
Experience required:
1. 3-5 years of similar, or work related experience
2. 3-5 years of supervisory experience
Experience desired:
1. 2-4 years of Managerial Leadership Experience
