Cost Accountant

This is a hands-on role supporting plant operations at a coffee production facility in Southern New Jersey. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys partnering across departments, and is comfortable working directly on the production floor. This is a hybrid role with three days on sit and will require minimal travel to plants for inventory counts twice a year. Role Overview In this role, you'll support inventory control, cost variance analysis, budgeting, and tax filings while collaborating closely with the Plant Controller. This is an opportunity to contribute directly to operational insights and financial efficiency at a company known for its low turnover, people-first culture, and long-term employee development. Key Responsibilities Perform cost accounting, financial analysis, and reporting for the production plant Maintain BOMs and annual standard costs Reconcile inventory monthly and safeguard plant assets Prepare monthly KPIs and analyze departmental variances Support month-end close (journal entries, reconciliations, reports) Analyze inventory obsolescence and participate in cycle counts Assist with budget preparation and planning File monthly, quarterly, and annual sales tax returns Contribute to ad hoc projects as assigned Tools & Technology ERP: SAP S/4HANA Software: Excel (high proficiency required) Candidate Requirements 2+ years of cost accounting or plant-based financial analysis Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field Proficiency in Excel and SAP (S/4HANA preferred) Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments Hands-on, analytical, and proactive mindset Ideal Cultural Fit Outgoing and collaborative Comfortable engaging on the production floor Self-starter who values process improvement and continuous learning Appreciates stability, flexibility, and a family-oriented work environment Benefits Overview Medical, dental, and vision insurance Life insurance (2x base salary) 401(k) with 100% company match up to 5% Generous PTO, holidays, and floating days Tuition reimbursement and LinkedIn Learning access Gym membership reimbursement Casual dress, employee discounts, and company events Seniority level
