2.5% OF BASE PAY FOR OBTAINING AND MAINTAINING a VALID CALIFORNIA CLASS A or B DRIVER'S LICENSE. The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill part-time and full-time, regular and limited-term positions as vacancies occur or the need arises. Interviews for selected candidates will be held on September 26, 2025. The Nevada County Transit division is looking for a safety conscious individual who is excited to provide vital transportation services to our county residents! We are looking for drivers with a positive outlook and the following knowledge and skills.

Knowledge of:

Safe, defensive driving practices California Motor Vehicle Code applicable to the operation of vehicles in public transportation Basic maintenance of transit vehicles and related equipment California Commercial Driver Handbook Skill in:

Education and Experience Required

Completion of twelfth grade or receipt of G.E.D. Minimum of six months of driving experience in one or more of the following: public transit, a school district transit operation, or driving a commercial vehicle. Possession of the following documents from the State of California :

Passenger Endorsement Certificate permitting the licensee to operate public transit vehicles equipped with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating of 26,001 pounds or more. California Class A or B Vehicle Operator's License Department of Motor Vehicles Medical Certificate/DL-51 Vehicle Transit Training (VTT) Certificate required within three months of hire Passenger transit driving experience preferred Possession of current and valid Certification for Operation of a School Bus is highly desirable Possession of current and valid Certification for the operation of airbrakes is beneficial, but not required. The Bus Driver position operates a transit bus over a designated route in accordance with arranged time schedules, collects fares, picks up and discharges passengers at pre-arranged locations; monitors passenger behavior and maintains safe and orderly conditions aboard the vehicle, provides information regarding fixed route and paratransit service to patrons and the general public.
