We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced
Commercial Property Accountant
to join our finance team. This role is ideal for a professional with 5+ years of experience in real estate or property accounting who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You will be responsible for managing the financial reporting and accounting operations for a portfolio of commercial properties. Key Responsibilities: Manage full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of commercial properties, including general ledger, journal entries, and month-end close Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP Reconcile bank accounts, tenant ledgers, and balance sheet accounts Process accounts payable and receivable, including tenant billing, rent collections, and CAM reconciliations Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Coordinate with property managers and leasing teams to ensure accurate financial reporting Support external audits and tax filings, including property tax and sales/use tax Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures Utilize property management and accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, or similar) Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial real estate or property accounting Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks, etc.) Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills CPA or progress toward CPA preferred Preferred Skills: Experience with CAM reconciliations and lease abstraction Familiarity with budgeting and forecasting tools Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Seniority level
