Assists in the delivery of patient care by transferring equipment/instrumentation during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to physicians. Performs a variety of duties related to the preparation, processing, and arrangement of endoscopic instruments and supplies under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Minimum Qualifications
Education, Certification, and/or Licensure: High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or LPN Program. Preferred Qualifications
Experience: Previous G.I. experience preferred. Core Duties and Responsibilities

Secures, sets up and prepares the equipment, instruments, and supplies for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Arranges instruments, tables, stands, and other articles in specified order. Adjusts equipment within the Short Stay Unit to meet the needs of the physician and the requirements of the procedure. Delivers equipment & instrumentation to physician during procedures. Communicates with physician, registered nurse in the utilization of the nursing process to meet individual patient needs according to the ages of patients served. Organizes time to complete assignments according to specifically assigned responsibilities. Properly cares for contaminated instruments and supplies during and after procedures utilizing appropriate infection control techniques. Follows department guidelines in the cleaning and disinfection of furniture/equipment. Reports to Department Director/designee any equipment malfunctions that could affect the standard of care or legal implications. Enters accurate and complete patient data prior to procedure.
