The Arizona Geological Survey is a nonacademic research department in the University of Arizona tasked with furthering our understanding of the geology, mineral resources, and natural hazards of Arizona. We invite applications for a Research Scientist with expertise in economic geology to join our team. The Research Scientist/Economic Geologist will be responsible for contributing to scientific projects related to mineral resources and bedrock geology. The individual will conduct fieldwork, analytical work, compile spatial data, contribute to report writing, and develop proposals relevant to Arizona's mineral resources. This individual will provide technical expertise to other researchers, public and private stakeholders, and members of the public to further our understanding of Arizonas natural resources. . Duties & Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead,develop, and design multiple scientific projects relating to mineralresources and bedrock geology that complement AZGS's mission. Utilizein-depth knowledge to conduct fieldwork scientific tasks in support ofprojects. Willauthor peer-reviewed scientific papers and technical reports. Serveas an expert in mineral resources for AZGS scientists, UA researchers,private-sector industries, regulatory agencies, stakeholders, AZ tribes,and other academic institutions. Conceiveand develop funding programs and proposals with internal and externalpartners. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Abilityto communicate and collaborate effectively with all groups/individuals. Abilityto manage scientific samples and data. Knowledgeof mineral resources geology. Minimum Qualifications

PhD degree in Geology or related field AND a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant work experience is required. Must have a valid driver's license upon hire and abilityto drive according to the University
