Senior Database Administrator
Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an enthusiastic, well-qualified individual to fill the Senior Database Administrator position. The ideal candidate will provide advanced database management, design, and optimization support for Department of Defense (DoD) mission systems across classified and unclassified environments. This role is responsible for ensuring database security, availability, performance, and compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards. The Senior will collaborate with system engineers, application developers, cybersecurity specialists, and program managers to maintain resilient and secure database solutions in support of DoD missions. Database Administrator required skills and experience: * Active TS/SCI Clearance * 8+ years of experience as a Database Administrator in DoD or federal environments, with work in one or more of the functional areas of sustainment, maintenance, and life cycle support * Expertise in relational database management systems (RDBMS) such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL * Experience supporting classified and unclassified networks (e.g., NIPRNET, SIPRNET, JWICS) * Strong understanding of database security, access controls, encryption, and auditing * Hands-on experience applying DoD cybersecurity policies (DISA STIGs, NIST SP 800-53, IAVM compliance) * Experience in database monitoring and management tools (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Manager, SQL Server Management Studio, pg Admin, Splunk) * Experience with database migrations, upgrades, and cloud-based database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, or equivalent) * Skilled in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, PL/SQL, T-SQL, Python) * Excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills in a DoD mission environment * Design, install, configure, and maintain enterprise database systems (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or other DoD-approved platforms) * Ensure database systems meet DoD cybersecurity requirements, including DISA STIGs, RMF, and ATO compliance * Manage database replication, backup, recovery, and high-availability solutions (clustering, fail-over, and disaster recovery) * Optimize performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and capacity planning * Support migration, integration, and modernization of database systems in hybrid/cloud environments * Conduct audits, patching, and vulnerability remediation to maintain compliance with DoD standards * Develop and maintain technical documentation, schema's, data flow diagrams, and security artifacts * Provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior database and system administrators Database Administrator required education and certifications: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field * Master's degree (preferred) * Professional license (if applicable for engineering discipline) (preferred) * Security+ CE, CISSP, or equivalent * Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Database Administrator Certified Professional * Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate * AWS Certified Database - Specialty * Red Hat Certified Specialist in Data Management * ITIL Foundation (for service management best practices) Benefits: * Medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance * Flexible Spending Accounts * 401(k) * PTO * Paid Parental leave * Tuition reimbursement * Paid federal holidays Must be a U.S. Citizen.
