Join our innovative and dynamic team as a Project Engineer in Utility Scale Energy Storage. In this role, you will be deeply involved in battery augmentation projects from inception to execution, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver best-in-class solutions. You will play a crucial role in planning, designing, and executing multiple energy storage augmentation projects while maintaining a customer service-oriented approach with both internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities: Perform detailed design engineering of electrical, structural, and civil aspects of utility-scale energy storage augmentation projects. Manage multiple concurrent high-volume battery augmentation projects, working closely with Engineers of Record, Project Managers, and various teams for permitting, procurement, interconnection, and construction. Prepare technical scopes of work for inclusion in contract documents. Support projects from conception through execution, collaborating with early-stage and construction project managers. Influence project teams in engineering aspects, closely collaborating with and overseeing external Engineers of Record. Maintain familiarity with progress and challenges in assigned technical areas. Collaborate with suppliers for successful integration of major equipment. Work with multi-disciplined teams for problem solving, process improvements, and system integration and controls. Support energy storage strategies through technical and market analysis. Identify value engineering opportunities and emerging technology prospects. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Essential Skills: Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program. 5+ years of proven engineering experience. Strong problem-solving skills, blending creative and analytical approaches. Acute attention to detail with proven abilities to apply lessons learned. Strong knowledge of technologies in energy storage, including battery chemistries, power conversion units, and DC-DC converters. Familiarity with lithium-ion battery storage safety standards (UL1973, UL9540, NFPA 855, NFPA 70E, NEC, applicable IFC/IBC sections). Experience in design and/or operation of large-scale power generation or processing plants. Hands-on experience with construction methods and best safety practices. Strong interpersonal and communication skills for conveying technical and non-technical concepts. Additional Skills & Qualifications: SME in substation or utility-scale energy storage design/project management. Expertise in power electronics, battery storage system design, substation design, or generation tie design. Familiarity with interconnection studies and GIA material modification adjustment processes, particularly in WECC and CAISO. Experience in construction permitting and contracting. Maturity of technical expertise and responsibility for specialized technical objectives. Work Environment: This role offers the flexibility to work onsite or remotely, with the requirement to travel for initial training. The headquarters are located in Juno Beach. Job Type & Location: This is a Contract position based out of Juno Beach, Florida. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
