About the Position
The Manager of Master Data Management (MDM) is responsible for leading the execution of Mastercard's MDM strategy within the Finance domain. This role is instrumental in shaping and implementing the strategic vision for MDM initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader enterprise data governance goals. In close partnership with Finance and Data Governance teams, the Manager will operationalize MDM and governance practices to uphold the consistency, accuracy, and integrity of financial data assets. The role demands strong cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders across Finance, Franchise, Product, Corporate, Mastercard Technology, and global business units to drive and sustain the data management strategy. As a subject matter expert in master and reference data management for Finance, this individual will represent the Office of the Chief Data Officer (CDO), offering leadership, guidance, and best practices to promote enterprise-wide data excellence. Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Execution: Define and implement finance-wide master data management (MDM) strategies and policies aligned with business objectives. Ensure timely delivery of MDM initiatives and continuous improvement of data processes. Program & Platform Management: Lead the MDM workstream, including requirements gathering, solution design, implementation, and maintenance of MDM platforms (e.g., Reltio, Informatica). Oversee system upgrades, migrations, and new deployments. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as a liaison between IT, business stakeholders, and data governance teams to ensure seamless integration and adoption of MDM solutions across enterprise systems (e.g., Oracle Financials, Coupa, Salesforce, Mastercard Billing System). Data Quality & Governance: Oversee data quality initiatives including profiling, cleansing, enrichment, and lifecycle management. Monitor and report on data quality KPIs. Partner with governance teams to establish and enforce standards, frameworks, and best practices across finance master data domains (e.g., customer, product, supplier, legal entity). Automation & Integration: Drive automation of data ingestion and mastered data consumption processes. Ensure integration of MDM solutions with enterprise applications and data pipelines. Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure adherence to data privacy, quality, and regulatory requirements. Team Development: In future phases, manage and mentor a team of data analysts, stewards, and MDM specialists. Qualifications & Experience
Experience: Demonstrated experience in data management or Master Data Management (MDM) roles within large enterprise environments, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience and at least 2 full-cycle MDM implementations. Proven hands-on expertise in large-scale MDM platforms such as Reltio or Informatica, along with familiarity with financial ERP systems including Oracle and SAP. Technical & Analytical Skills: Experienced data professional with strong problem-solving skills and expertise in enterprise data products and architecture. Proficient in Hadoop, Databricks, RDBMS, SQL, Alteryx, and Excel. Skilled in data integration, metadata management, and taxonomy modeling. Adept at designing scalable data platforms, including data lakes, warehouses, lakehouses, and real-time pipelines. Proven ability to lead data strategy and unify fragmented ecosystems in complex organizations. Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with Mastercard data domains (e.g., customer, product, financial master data) is preferred. Leadership & Influence: Proven ability to drive organizational change, establish governance frameworks, and influence cross-functional teams without direct authority. Preference for candidates with people management experience or a demonstrated appetite for leading and developing teams. Communication & Collaboration: Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration. Mindset: Self-starter with a balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution. Ability to deliver results under tight deadlines.
