Description
The Food Runner supports front-of-house operations by helping Servers in serving guests and in maintaining the cleanliness of dining areas and other areas before, during and after guest service. The Food Runner ensures that unoccupied tables are ready to receive new guests. Sets tables with silverware, and remove soiled dishes, glassware, and silverware from the tables and sanitizes tables, cleans the seats and sweeps or vacuums the surrounding floor as needed. Additional responsibilities include working closely with dishwashers to make sure that there are always clean plates and flatware for each table. Also assists servers in delivering food and filling or re-filling non-alcoholic beverages.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare dining room for guests by setting tables and stocking all necessary supplies prior to the beginning of service. Maintain table settings by removing used plates, glasses, cutlery and napkins from tables and replenishing utensils as necessary. Refill water and other beverages; serves alcoholic beverages only if legally permitted to do so. Support wait staff by assisting them with delivery of food and retrieval of supplies they may need. Remove used plates, glasses, cutlery and napkins from tables to dishpit. Scrape, stack dirty dishes, carry dishes and other tableware to the dishpit for cleaning, keeping a consolidated dish area. Restock and maintain the cleanliness common areas and service stations; clean up spilled food, drink and broken dishes, remove empty bottles and trash (recycling where appropriate), restock linens, fold napkins, polish glassware/silverware, also sweeps floors and tidies the place as necessary. Set up and break down dining room and service stations, including moving tables, chairs and other furniture as needed. Collaborate with servers to ensure that tables are cleared, cleaned, re-set and ready for the next party. Arrange tables for large parties and prepare the banquet areas for scheduled gatherings. Assist with washing dishes when needed. Be knowledgeable about menu items and table and seat numbers. Be knowledgeable about resort operations and amenities in order to answer guest questions as needed. Performs job duties following safety best practices. Performs other duties as assigned. Work experience as a Food Runner or other entry-level role in a restaurant is a plus. High school diploma (or equivalent) a plus. Comfortable working independently and managing workload while supporting a team in a fast-paced environment. Punctuality and reliability are critical. Good verbal communication and organizational skills. Valid New Mexico Alcohol Server Permit and NM Food Handler Certificate required before hire. Ability to work flexible hours including days, evenings, weekends, weekdays, and holidays required. Ability to work in an environment where the employee is frequently exposed to heat, steam, noise, and odors. Ability to work proactively to ensure the best possible guest experience. Ability to work effectively in an environment where the pace may vary. Ability to multi-task well and work well under pressure. Ability to stand for eight or more hours per day. Ability to sit, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, push and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds at a time. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures. Bi-lingual: English/Spanish a plus.
