HGA is seeking a
Control Engineer
to support operations in
Port Arthur, TX . This Control Engineer III will play a key role in managing control system projects, installation, commissioning, and startup activities throughout the Beaumont/Port Arthur region. This 6-month contract position is a hands-on engineering position requiring deep experience with both legacy and modern PLC/HMI platforms, controls programming, and industry best practices. Travel may be required up to 10%, primarily within the Beaumont area.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support control systems for pipeline distribution systems, tank farms, pump stations, and meter skids.
Execute hands-on PLC programming, HMI configuration, loop tuning, and safety system integration.
Develop and analyze P&IDs, electrical and instrumentation schematics, cause & effect diagrams, specifications, and control narratives.
Oversee installation and commissioning of control systems in the field.
Coordinate with contractors and project teams to ensure project timelines and deliverables are met.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards across all operations.
Provide on-call support and respond promptly to operational concerns as necessary. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering or a minimum of 10 years of relevant controls-related experience.
At least 5 years of experience with oil & gas infrastructure, including pipeline systems and related control systems.
Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements, instrumentation, documentation, and overall control systems architecture.
Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to changing project needs.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work safely on ladders or elevated structures.
Must live within commuting distance to the Beaumont/Port Arthur area or be open to relocation.
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
