The Assistant Director of Clinical Practice will be a part-time one-year contract position responsible for coordinating student clinical placements and clinical education experiences for the Master of Science Program in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology. The Assistant Director will provide students with a range and number of clinical experiences to ensure that they meet certification requirements which reflect current practice standards that are consistent with accreditation standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Cultivate, execute and evaluate affiliated clinical sites, determining suitability for student placements;
Develop clinical programs, including learning objectives, practical activities, and evaluation methods;
Act as a liaison between the program and placement coordinators at each clinical site;
Participate in the recruitment, orientation and evaluation of clinical preceptors;
Manage and develop fieldwork documentation;
Teach courses and seminars;
Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
Visit and mentor students at their clinical placement sites

Job Description

EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Master s degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATION:

Pennsylvania Speech-Language Pathology licensure (or eligibility for) required.

American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) CCC- Certificate of Clinical Competence also required.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum of five years of clinical experience required. Three years of administrative, supervisory and/or clinical education experience. Familiarity with current certification standards set forth by the Council for Clinical Certification in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CFCC) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).

Ability to mentor students

Strong written and oral communication skills

Ability to communicate appropriate clinical issues and concerns to the Chair, program director, Director of Clinical Practice, clinical educators, and faculty

Familiarity with web-based application that manages clinical education

Participate in College and University activities and committees, as appropriate

Participation in appropriate professional organizations.
