Experience:
- One year of current clinical experience or clinical student experience.
License:
- Current state license as a Radiographer.
Certifications:
- ARRT registered RT (R) in diagnostic radiology.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider or an equivalent.
Must-Have:
- Self-motivated.
- Ability to organize and prioritize well.
- Ability to remain flexible and to reorganize priorities when emergencies arise.
Description:
The Radiologic Technologist prepares patients and performs radiographic procedures in diagnostic radiology.
They operate imaging equipment and perform diagnostic studies according to specific guidelines and prescribed protocols.
Appropriate radiation protection measures are utilized during all procedures.
The technologist adheres to organizational customer service standards and supports initiatives for organizational excellence.
They ensure positive and effective interaction and communication with patients, visitors, and staff.
The role includes performing ancillary services and assisting in patient care areas as necessary.
Radiologic and fluoroscopic procedures should be performed accurately and efficiently, minimizing discomfort for the patient.
Exams must be clearly explained to patients prior to the procedure.
The technologist interviews patients to gather personal medical history and documents this information in the system.
Clear explanations and instructions should be provided to patients throughout the exam.
After exams, the technologist expresses gratitude to patients.
Clienttion protection is provided to self and patients in accordance with established safety standards.
Patients must be correctly positioned, and technical factors are selected to produce images of maximum diagnostic quality while minimizing repeats.
It is essential to ensure correct image identification, including placement of ID markers and proper annotation.
Each study should be reviewed for technical accuracy.
The technologist works in partnership with other staff to ensure appropriate scheduling and throughput of exams.
Assistance in patient transportation may be required.
The technologist communicates and collaborates with providers during exams for guidance on protocols and order clarification.
Images are approved, matched to orders, and archived in the designated system.
PACS reconciliations must be performed accurately and completely in a timely manner.
Fluoroscopic studies require documentation of fluoro time and estimated skin exposure.
Proficiency in the electronic medical record system is necessary.
The technologist must follow the workflow from order entry and verification to the conclusion of the exam, including notes, medication documentation, and supply charges where applicable.
Flexibility in scheduling reassignment and shift rotations is required to support departmental needs.
Proactively looking for opportunities to increase efficiency and a cohesive work environment is encouraged.
Routinely offering assistance to others, including preparing exam rooms, stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean work area, is expected.
Providing a positive teaching and learning environment for staff, students, providers, and visitors is essential.
Acts as a mentor and role model for new employees.
Observing malfunctioning equipment and following proper procedures to report equipment issues is necessary.
