Job Description
Job Description: Electrophysiology Monitoring Technician
Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts (primarily days with late night/evening shifts and on-call per unit needs)
Duration: 17 weeks
Position Overview:
We are seeking an Electrophysiology Monitoring Technician to provide vital support during Electrophysiology (EP) studies, ablations, and cardiac implant procedures. This role requires collaboration with healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth operation of procedures while maintaining a patient-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Electrophysiologists during EP studies, ablations, and cardiac implants.
- Prepare and set up equipment for procedures with various mapping systems including Biosense Webster Carto, Abbott Ensite/Precision, and Rhythmia.
- Implement EP pacing maneuvers and monitor system measurements (GE systems like MacLab & CardioLab).
- Coordinate with the charge nurse and third-party vendors to ensure all team members are present for scheduled procedures.
- Maintain communication with physicians and in-room staff to ensure the availability of all necessary equipment and supplies.
- Facilitate timely room turnover and ensure on-time procedure starts to enhance patient care.
Qualifications:
- Required:
- Tech License: RCES or Radiologic Technology License
- Two years of relevant experience in Electrophysiology or cardiac monitoring
- BLS certification (American Heart Association only)
- Preferred:
- Experience with cardiac implant or structural heart scrub procedures
- Familiarity with Bloom stimulators and GE (MacLab & CardioLab) systems.
- Proficiency in using Epic for documentation in the procedure lab.
Procedures CommonlyPerformed:
- RF and Cryo ablations (A Fib/Flutter, Atrial tachycardia, AVNRT, WPW, and other ANRT ablations)
- Implantation of traditional pacemakers (single, dual, CSP, BiV), ICDs, subcutaneous ICDs, leadless pacemakers, loops, and left atrial appendage closures (e.g., Watchmans, Amulets).
