nJOB SUMMARY:
nScope:
nDeliver high-quality patient care and technical expertise in Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology
nprocedures. Assist with cardiac, vascular, and interventional procedures, competently performing
nemergency interventions as needed, while adhering to established standards under the guidance of a
ncredentialed invasive cardiologist or electrophysiologist.
nFunction: Functions may differ based on specialty between radiologic trained technologists and
ncardiovascular trained technologist.
nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
n• Prepares patient for Cardiac Cath and EP procedures by accurately assessing patient’s needs and
nproviding patient education.
n• Monitors and documents hemodynamics and procedural events including moderate sedation per
nModeration policy and departmental guidelines.
n• Competent in identifying cardiac rhythms, waveforms and abnormal ranges and taking
nappropriate intervention
n• Demonstrates ability to perform different aspects of responsibilities within the department such
nas circulator, monitor, scrub and holding area personnel assistant.
n• Provides for patient safety related to age and condition. Assists with patient restraints
nand maintains precautions. Collects, reports, and documents data related to patient
nneeds/emergencies and unusual patient and family behavior.
n• Demonstrates knowledge and skills to interpret and respond to patient data and hemodynamic
nresponses during pre, intra and post Cath and EP procedures.
n• Performs and reports point of care testing (POCT).
n• Provides and maintains a clean, safe environment and performs and/or assists others to
nperform proper aseptic and sterile technique, isolation procedures and infection control
nmeasures.
n• May support physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular ailments with
nthe use of a catheter determined by credentials.
nRadiology Specialized Functions:
n• Operates computer and radiographic equipment for image production and documentation of
nimages and performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images.
n• Practices proper entries and records on Radiology Information System, Cardiac Catheterization
nSystem, and Hospital Information System
n• Monitors radiation exposure including examination of the lead aprons for the department
ndependent on specialty.
n• Practices safety measures in radiography and Environment of Care dependent on specialty.
nMarginal or Periodic Functions:
n• Performs related duties as required
nSALARY RANGE:
nSalary to commensurate experience.
