Job Summary

The Scientist position at BioLegend plays a vital role in the company's success in developing legendary research products for customers worldwide. In this role, you will drive new product development and contribute to generating SOPs that maintain ISO compliance.

This position involves joining our chemistry team to develop fluorescent dyes and other chemicals through close collaboration with biology groups. Success in this role requires candidates with a proven track record of problem-solving, both independently and in team environments, along with demonstrated leadership capabilities.

Essential Functions

Design and synthesize novel polymer and small organic fluorescent dyes for flow cytometry and imaging applications Design and synthesize dyes with enhanced properties and performance characteristics Synthesize chemical probes currently offered in BioLegend's product portfolio Identify new materials, methods, and applications related to dye chemistry and dye conjugation that support company business objectives Review scientific literature and contribute to new product development initiatives and scientific discussions Develop SOPs and lead protocol transfers to manufacturing teams, including training manufacturing associates Collaborate with diverse Product Development and Process Improvement teams that support manufacturing production Supervise associates and junior scientists in dye design projects and provide people management. Generate accurate reporting of project status Generate accurate project status reports and documentation Complete additional projects and responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Qualifications – Education And Experience

Ph. D’s Degree in organic chemistry or polymer chemistry with >3 years post graduate work experience 2+ years of hands-on experience with semiconducting polymer synthesis, condensation polymerization 2+ years of hands-on experience with water soluble polymer synthesis

Preferred Qualifications – Education And Experience

3 years industrial experience for dye design

The base salary range for this full-time position is $115,000 - $120,000 . This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for a new hire in this position. The base pay actually offered to the successful candidate will take into account internal equity, work location, and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Please note that base pay is only one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This range allows for the successful candidate to have an opportunity to progress within the position and develop at our company. This base pay range does not take into account bonuses, equity, or other benefits which may be applicable and are dependent on the level and position offered.
