Job Title: Automation Engineer
Position Summary:
The Automation Engineer will design, program, and test automated systems, provide engineering support to operations through line support of automated equipment, and drive continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment. Duties: Introduction and maintenance of automated systems: Design, program, and test automated systems. Create small to medium scale automated systems with responsibility for integration of various platforms. Maintain and update existing automated systems. Collaborate with integrators to ensure successful delivery of external projects. Line Support: Provide oversight and monitoring of control machinery, including project coordination for maintenance, upgrades, and repairs. Perform hands-on troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment. Create documentation, test plans, and reports to justify technical decisions (e.g., qualifications, risk assessments, work instructions). Support operations to meet quality and quantity manufacturing goals. Continuous Improvement: Use project management skills to lead initiatives that optimize yield, quality, and cycle time. Assist in cost reduction and efficiency improvements through automation. Identify process improvements and provide technical solutions, including troubleshooting manufacturing issues. Capacity Improvement: Assess manufacturing capacity and reconcile with demand. Recommend capacity enhancements. Handle Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification, and Performance Qualification processes. Specify tooling, fixtures, and equipment to meet capacity needs. Coordinate planning, procurement, installation, and qualification of controls and automated equipment. Required Experience: Bachelors Degree in controls engineering, electrical engineering, electro-mechanical engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 3+ years experience in automation, electrical controls design, and PLC programming in a manufacturing environment. Experience with robotics, PLCs, ladder logic, pneumatics, sensors, actuators, and vision systems. Understanding of computer programming and software development.
