Fundamental Language Research Scientist - FAIR (PhD) Meta is seeking a Research Scientist to join our Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) Team, a research organization focused on making significant progress in AI. Individuals in this role are expected to be recognized experts in identified research areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, computational statistics, and applied mathematics, particularly including areas such as deep learning, graphical models, reinforcement learning, computer perception, natural language processing and data representation. The desired candidate will have a keen interest in producing new science to understand intelligence and technology to make computers more intelligent. Responsibilities

Perform research to advance the science and technology of intelligent machines. Perform research that enables learning the semantics of data (images, video, text, audio and other modalities). Work towards long-term ambitious research goals, while identifying intermediate milestones. Influence progress of relevant research communities by producing publications. Contribute research that can be applied to Meta's product development. Open source high quality code and produce reproducible research. Minimum Qualifications

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta. Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a Ph.D. in AI, computer science, data science, or related technical fields. First-authored publications at peer-reviewed conferences, such as ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, and other similar venues. Research background in machine learning, artificial intelligence, computational statistics, applied mathematics, or related areas. Experience in developing and debugging in Python or similar programming languages. Experience in communicating research for public audiences of peers. Experience in theoretical and empirical research and for addressing research problems. Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment. Preferred Qualifications

Experience collaborating in a team environment on research projects. Research and engineering experience demonstrated via publications, grants, fellowships, patents, internships, work experience, open source code, and/or coding competitions. Compensation:

US$117,000/year to US$173,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits. Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
