Description of the Director Of Investments

This leader will be responsible for building and delivering a consistent and sustainable investment and service strategy to clients. This position will be ultimately responsible for the results of the Investment Strategists, including asset growth, strategy and research implementation and execution, and monitoring customized solutions. Additionally, this position will drive towards zero tolerance on trading and other errors, and ensure compliance with all firm and regulatory policies and procedures. The role includes ensuring the consultative investment management process serves as the foundation for providing the required client experience across regions. It involves delivering the entire investment product offering, including performance, innovation (such as digitization), development, platform, and sales. The position also provides professional development and training for Investment Strategists and support staff to keep them updated on industry developments and regulatory requirements. The leader must be a subject matter expert in research, trading, compliance, accounting, and portfolio management platforms used by the organization. Collaboration with Trust & Fiduciary Services and Wealth Planning teams is essential to align client goals, goals-based investing, and governing document requirements. The role also involves working across the enterprise to deliver the Wealth Management investment process and value proposition. This position is a voting member of the Investment Policy Committee and Product Committees and is expected to actively participate as a subject matter expert in investment management activities. Position Responsibilities:
Develop and drive a fully integrated investment approach. Manage all Investment Strategists and support staff to achieve a consistent, exceptional client experience, asset growth, model utilization, and performance standards as per the Investment Policy strategy. Ensure the investment team provides consultative investment expertise and advice to all Wealth Management clients. Apply the 5-step Consultative Investment Management Process to manage client accounts. Maintain current knowledge of the Comerica Investment Policy Committee, asset allocation guidelines, and risk tolerance objectives. Be a Subject Matter Expert on the current financial regulatory environment, fiduciary standards, and regulatory requirements. Develop and execute a transition plan for the current book of business. Possess strong knowledge of research, trading, and trust accounting platforms. Review and approve compliance exceptions as required. Ensure timely completion of Reg 9 investment reviews and resolution of investment exceptions. Work with Investment Strategists to minimize errors and trade corrections. Mentor and provide professional development and training for all Investment Strategists and support staff. Ensure the investment management process underpins the client experience in the region.
