Under the supervision of the Chief Engineer or his delegate, the Building Engineer (E2) performs duties that require more proficiency than an E1 but less than a full Building Engineer. The E2 supports safety programs, engineering standards, operational procedures, and industry guidelines. This role involves increased responsibility, autonomy, and use of complex tools and systems. The E2 must communicate effectively and adhere to all relevant codes, rules, and regulations. The position aims for the E2 to be signed off on all line items of the Promote from Within Program within one year, excluding training courses. Description

Maintain all mechanical, electrical, and work areas, including surface cleaning and facility structures. Perform basic plumbing tasks such as installation, adjustment, and repair of restroom plumbing equipment, piping, and soldering. Procure and maintain inventories of parts, supplies, and equipment, including order tracking. Maintain and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and building structures. Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned, potentially supervising reports. Promote safety, energy conservation, and continuous improvement, including BAS/DDC system management. Formal training required. Document maintenance activities and data in Building Engines. Perform administrative duties following departmental policies, including out/tag out procedures. Work as a responsible team member and provide excellent customer service. Comply with all safety, environmental, and operational policies and regulations, including hazardous material handling and PPE use. Maintain workplace attendance and professionalism. Communicate effectively with team members, management, and vendors using various tools. Understand and support organizational goals and policies. Follow all safety and environmental regulations, including SDS reading and hazard awareness. Qualifications
Skills & Abilities
Excellent organizational and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Building Engines, email, and BAS/EMS systems. Minimum Qualifications
OSHA/ACM awareness training certification. Washington State Labor and Industries 07 electrical training card, with the goal to obtain a licensed journeyman 07 electrician status. City of Seattle Grade IV Boiler Fireman License. EPA Universal Refrigerant License (preferred). City of Seattle Refrigeration License (preferred).
