JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Field Director Location: New York, NY Reports to: Campaign Manager Salary: $4,500 a month Employment through November 3, 2025 Independent candidate for New York City Council. Join a people-powered campaign focused on quality-of-life issuesnot party politics. Platform focused on community initiatives with a commitment to transparency, compassion, and results-driven leadership. The Field Director is responsible for building and managing the campaigns voter contact program. This role oversees volunteer recruitment, training, and retention; manages petitioning, canvassing, and phonebank operations; and ensures that all direct voter contact reflects the campaigns values and strategic goals. The Field Director will work closely with Campaign Leadership to draft and execute a comprehensive field plan, identify and develop volunteer leaders, and track measurable progress toward voter outreach and turnout goals. Please note: this is a Full-time position, with additional hours expected as Election Day approaches; availability on some nights and weekends is required. Key Responsibilities Recruit, train, and retain a large group of enthusiastic volunteers to communicate the campaigns message to voters via door-knocking, phonebanking, and street canvassing.
Identify and develop a team of volunteer leaders and building captains to assist in planning and execution.
Draft and execute a strategic field plan to identify supporters, and turn those supporters out to vote.
Support overall campaign visibility efforts, including coordinating multiple Days of Action, community events, and other public-facing activities.
Oversee the candidates direct voter contact responsibilities, which can include cutting turf and knocking doors alongside.
Hire, direct, and assess the performance of a team of paid canvassers.
Track metrics and adjust strategy to keep the campaign on pace to meet its goals.
Create all direct voter contact scripts, and set up campaign tools to track responses to direct voter contact conversations.
Use data analysis to track progress toward voter contact and petition goals, making strategic adjustments as needed to ensure the campaign stays on pace.
Maintain flexibility in planning and execution to respond quickly to changing campaign needs and conditions.
Qualifications Ability to establish a safe, respectful, and joyous campaign culture that appreciates the efforts of volunteers and campaign workers while holding all involved accountable to the campaigns goals.
Expertise in tools such as NGP VAN/Votebuilder. (Bonus if youve worked with Good Partys tools before.)
Commitment to strengthening the socialist movement by identifying, training, and developing new volunteer leaders and large volunteer teams.
At least one cycle of NYC field experience, or 2-3 cycles elsewhere.
Spanish proficiency is preferred, but not required.
