Primary Duties and Responsibilities
In this role, you will act as a staff person in the ambulatory care setting, assisting in providing total patient care, maintaining high standards of care, and recognizing normal and abnormal signs and symptoms of life-threatening emergencies. The Licensed Vocational Nurse must be able to follow established University and Departmental work policies, procedures, and guidelines. You will be required to travel to Oncology clinic locations in San Luis Obispo and Atascadero. Job Qualifications
Required: Possess a license issued by the State of CA Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners with IV therapy and blood withdrawal. Possession of BLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Knowledge of instruments and supplies to perform physical examinations and procedures. Ability to take vital signs, administer medications, and obtain drug refills as needed. Ability to recognize abnormal laboratory values and report to the physician. Knowledge of symptomatology of common and life-threatening medical problems. Excellent interpersonal skills for maintaining a cooperative working environment with physicians, staff, and health providers. Skill to perform CPR. Keyboard literacy skills to access and input data in computerized logging systems. Competency in IV skills. Demonstrated punctuality and good attendance. Ability to push, pull, or carry a minimum of 30 pounds or more. Skill and knowledge to submit quality work in a timely manner.
