Base pay range
$90,000.00/yr - $110,000.00/yr Direct message the job poster from Co-Source Solutions Our client is a mission-driven nonprofit organization providing vital residential and community-based services to individuals with developmental disabilities. With hundreds of employees supporting dozens of residences and programs across New York City, they empower individuals to live with dignity, independence, and opportunity. Position Overview The Senior Accountant will play a key role on the finance team, overseeing the day-to-day accounting functions while supporting compliance, reporting, and budgeting across multiple programs. This role requires both strong technical accounting skills as well as a strong understanding of nonprofit fund accounting. The Senior Accountant will work closely with leadership and program managers to ensure financial transparency and accountability to a wide range of stakeholders, including government agencies and donors. Key Responsibilities Manage
full-cycle accounting , including journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance. Prepare and review
monthly, quarterly, and annual GAAP-compliant financial statements , including Statements of Financial Position, Activities, and Functional Expenses. Support the
budgeting and forecasting process , analyze variances, and provide financial insights to program leadership. Oversee
fund accounting , ensuring proper treatment of restricted vs. unrestricted funds, grants, and government contracts. Assist in coordinating with external auditors to ensure compliance with nonprofit standards. Develop and strengthen
internal controls
and financial processes across a multi-entity, multi-program organization. Collaborate with operations and program managers to provide
timely, actionable reporting
that improves decision-making. Contribute to
special projects
such as program expansions, system implementations, or process automation. Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred or in progress. 35 years of accounting experience; prior
nonprofit or healthcare sector experience strongly preferred . Knowledge of
fund accounting, grant management, and compliance reporting . Advanced proficiency in
Excel ; experience with QuickBooks or similar systems a plus. Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and communication skills. Seniority level
