Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a Data Architect with strong experience in Snowflake and AWS S3 to lead the design and optimization of enterprise data architecture. The architect will be responsible for designing scalable data models, implementing efficient data pipelines, and supporting cloud-based storage solutions. This role requires close collaboration with business analysts, data engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure data structures align with business and reporting needs. The ideal candidate brings deep technical skills, a strategic mindset, and hands-on experience working with modern cloud data platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Architecture & Modeling:
Design and implement scalable, flexible, and high-performing data models.
Establish standards for logical and physical data modeling in Snowflake.
Ensure data models meet business, analytical, and operational requirements.
Data Integration & Cloud Storage:
Manage and optimize data ingestion workflows, especially involving AWS S3 and Snowflake.
Define and support the structure and organization of large datasets in S3.
Support ELT processes and data transformation frameworks across multiple data domains.
Performance Optimization & Security:
Tune data models, queries, and storage for performance and cost-efficiency.
Implement role-based access controls and security features within Snowflake.
Ensure compliance with data governance and privacy requirements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work with business stakeholders, data analysts, and engineers to gather requirements and provide architectural guidance.
Translate business needs into robust data solutions and frameworks.
Provide mentorship and architectural leadership to technical teams.
Documentation & Standards:
Create architectural diagrams, data flow documentation, and metadata descriptions.
Maintain documentation related to data sources, transformations, and data quality standards.
Support data stewardship and governance initiatives.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Experience in Data Architecture: 5+ years of experience designing enterprise-scale data solutions. Snowflake Expertise: Proven experience with Snowflake features such as virtual warehouses, secure views, streams, tasks, and optimization techniques. AWS S3 Knowledge: Practical experience with S3 for data storage, structuring, and integration into analytics platforms. Advanced SQL & ELT: Expertise in writing efficient SQL and building robust ELT processes. Cloud Integration Knowledge: Familiarity with Snowpipe, external stages, and data transfer best practices. Collaboration & Communication: Strong skills in working across business and technical teams to define and deliver data solutions. Problem-Solving & Agility: Able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and project needs.
Nice to Have:
Experience working with data governance tools (e.g., Atlan, SODA). Exposure to Agile methodologies and sprint-based delivery. Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence, or Lucidchart for collaboration and documentation. Experience with data mesh, data fabric, or modern data platform strategies.
Rate: $100-110/hour (depends on experience level). This is a contract position with candidates expected to work 40 hours/ week . Contract duration is 12 months. Seniority level
