Position Summary
Facilities Director – Commercial Pool Operations knowledge
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Facilities Director to oversee the operations, maintenance, and compliance of our 80,000 square foot commercial facility, with a strong emphasis on aquatic systems. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on expertise in pool filtration systems, water chemistry, and large-scale pool operations, alongside a proven track record in facilities management.
Providing leadership and oversight to building maintenance staff as well as oversight and direction to contractors utilized for outsourced projects. Development and manage a strong maintenance budget.
Essential Functions

• Lead daily operations and long-term planning for all facility systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and aquatic infrastructure.
• Oversee maintenance and compliance of commercial pool systems, with a focus chemical automation.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all mechanical and aquatic systems.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, including NJ pool codes and OSHA standards.
• Manage vendor contracts, capital improvement projects, and emergency response protocols.
• Supervise and train maintenance staff.
• Monitor energy usage and implement sustainability initiatives across facilities.

• Qualifications
• Minimum 5 years of experience in facilities management, with at least 3 years in commercial pool operations.
• In-depth knowledge of filtration systems, water chemistry, and pool heating.
• Certified Pool Operator (CPO) or Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certification required.
• Strong leadership, budgeting, and project management skills.
• Familiarity with CMMS software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical tasks as needed.
• Preferred
• Experience managing multi-use recreational or fitness facilities.
• Knowledge of ADA compliance and aquatic safety standards.
  

Physical Requriements/Working Conditions

• Ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, stoop, crawl, reach, stretch, grasp, pull, push, climb, lift and carry a maximum of 50 pounds,
• Ability to climb ladders and/or scaffolding safely.
• Ability to tolerate outdoor weather conditions (both heat and cold).
• Ability to hear and see (with or without corrective assistance) to ensure overall safety while in the work environment.
• Ability to communicate in writing and verbally to ensure safety requirements can be clearly understood.
• Working conditions are normal for a YMCA facility environment containing both indoor and outdoor areas.
• Work may require week-end, early morning and late evening hours.
