Cedars-Sinai Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Supply Chain Pharmacy Coordinator to join our team in Los Angeles, CA. Under the direction of a Pharmacy Manager, the Coordinator will play a critical role in developing, implementing, and monitoring pharmacy programs, leading pharmacy practice advancement, championing cost reduction efforts, and providing professional development for pharmacists as it relates to patient care. This role demands a commitment to cooperation and collaboration among staff and providers, as well as a deep understanding of the complexities of the pharmaceutical supply chain.

What's this role all about?

This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the optimization of our pharmacy operations, ensuring the safe and effective use of medications while maintaining fiscal responsibility. Key responsibilities include:

Supply Chain Management Expertise: Oversee and manage the pharmaceutical supply chain, including drug shortage management, liaison activities with key partners (Vizient, McKesson, Cencora, Cardinal, HHS, Tracelink, Inmar, etc.), tracking cost savings initiatives, optimizing inventory (PAR level management), and monitoring financial performance through dashboard creation. This includes responsibility for contract proposal analysis and negotiation. Program Development and Implementation: Develop and implement pharmacy programs related to drug supply chain, contracting, prescribing, distribution, administration, and monitoring of drug therapy outcomes. Leadership and Collaboration: Lead and support multidisciplinary project teams focused on developing, delivering, and enhancing clinical and operational pharmacy services to improve the safe, effective, and clinically appropriate use of medications. Stakeholder Liaison: Serve as a liaison to external stakeholders and vendors at all levels, fostering strong relationships to achieve organizational goals. Subject Matter Expert: Serve as a pharmacy subject matter expert and resource to operationalize pharmacy and medical center initiatives. Financial Stewardship: Monitor drug utilization and expenses, implementing cost-saving initiatives and analyzing financial reports to identify opportunities for improvement. Quality Assurance and Improvement: Perform routine analysis and quality assurance of pharmacy services, implementing quality improvement measures to enhance organizational performance. Documentation and Compliance: Maintain detailed documentation pertaining to operational SOPs, educational materials, and visual aids related to pharmacy processes and workflows. Continuously improve, develop, and maintain policies and procedures in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and practice standards. Decision Support and Best Practices: Create, review, and coordinate decision support tools and content to maximize best practice care delivery, collaborating with other healthcare team members. Regulatory Compliance: Utilize knowledge of regulating agencies (FDA, USP, TJC, DEA, IRB, Board of Pharmacy, etc.), best practice standards, and institutional policies and procedures to maintain regulatory compliance. Education and Training: Participate in the education and training of pharmacy staff, residents, interns, students, and other healthcare professionals. Provide training, onboarding, and professional development for pharmacists. Actively supervise technicians/interns and coordinate their functions. Medication Safety: Review reports for medication errors, adverse drug events, and other problem areas, taking appropriate action to mitigate risks. Performance Management: Assist the Pharmacy Manager with performance reviews and improvement plans.

Qualifications

Educational Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy. PharmD preferred. Completion of a PGY1 and/or PGY2 residency or equivalent practice experience.

License/Certification Requirements:

Current pharmacist licensure in the State of California. BLS certification as outlined in the Pharmacist Responsibilities in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (C.P.R.) and Code Blue Procedure: Pharmacy Policy and Procedure.

What else are we looking for?

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, & Tableau Completion of a second-year pharmacy management residency preferred. 2 years of working experience in an acute care setting, including exposure to 340B programs, supply chain management, and project management. Working knowledge of contract evaluation and negotiation. Experience with data analytics from various financial reports.
