• Responsible for the proper recording of all transactions in all funds in accordance with GAAP, GASB, and various State regulations.
• Responsible for coordinating District purchasing activities, as well as compliance with Board of Education Policy as it relates to competitive bidding.
• Responsible for monthly maintenance of general ledger for all funds including journal entry preparation, chart of accounts maintenance.
• Make recommendations on District-wide internal controls.
• Coordinate grant accounting and reporting with grant administrators and payroll function.
• Coordinate with the human resource office on Berrien RESA payroll.
• Provide required advance approval of accounting-related payroll document submissions and accounts payable check runs as a means of budgetary control.
• Assist with the monitoring of District cash flow for all accounts using a daily contemporaneous process.
• Reconcile District bank accounts in a timely manner and monitor district budgets for compliance
• Assist in the preparation of financial information analysis for administration and board decision-making
• Assist with district long-range financial projections
• Develop a staffing profile tied into finance software with salary, benefits, account numbers for employees.
• Update annual fixed asset report and prepare other reports as assigned
• Supervise RESA accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
• Communicate with Director of Business and Finance regarding any issues concerning improper or questionable use of District assets
• Monitor and distribute district credit cards under District Use Policy
• Assist with annual audits
• Regular and predictable attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Business and Finance

Need to have:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business, or related field required
• CPA, preferred
• MSBO Certification as a chief financial officer preferred or willingness to obtain
• Three to five years financial experience preferred, preferably in a public K-12 District or ISD
