Summary

The Manager of Development & Communications will be responsible for overseeing the organizational communications program and conveying Phoenix Houses of NY|LI's impact through various channels such as the website, social media, and brochures. The ideal candidate will have experience in communications, social media management, fundraising, brand management, and marketing development. They will execute campaigns, build and manage a team, and manage development efforts to support organizational goals, including identifying diverse funding sources like government grants, corporate, and private foundations. The role also involves managing fundraising databases and organizing special events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Communications
  • Manage Phoenix Houses of NY|LI's brand and initiatives across multiple channels.
  • Train staff on brand communication strategies.
  • Collaborate with web managers to update and maintain the website.
  • Develop systems for website content updates.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of the new website.
  • Design and publish marketing materials using emerging tools.
  • Coordinate communication efforts for events.
  • Manage media relations and secure media opportunities.
  • Create and distribute email newsletters using MailChimp.
  • Develop social media strategies and analyze engagement data.
  • Enhance social media presence to engage supporters and share success stories.
  • Edit and create video content.
  • Manage communication assets like photos, logos, and collateral.
  • Coordinate with contractors and provide assets to team members.
Development
  • Cultivate diverse funding sources.
  • Build relationships with donors and partners.
  • Manage and acknowledge donations in the database.
  • Generate reports and mailing lists for fundraising.
  • Ensure accurate donation accounting.
  • Manage in-kind donations and compliance policies.
Events Management
  • Support special events through data management, marketing, and communications.
  • Collaborate on developing new events.
  • Travel to various locations and meetings as needed.

Qualifications

Required Education : Bachelor's degree or equivalent.

Required Experience : Minimum 3+ years in communications, content creation software, excellent writing skills, successful social media campaigns, ability to analyze marketing efforts, prioritize projects, self-motivated, organized, with proficiency in Raisers Edge, WordPress, Mailchimp, Canva. Experience in public health or non-profit preferred.

Work Environment

This role is based in an indoor office environment, utilizing standard office equipment.

Physical Demands
