Summary
Supervises and coordinates activities of workers concerned with ordering, receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing, and shipping materials, supplies, tools, equipment, and parts, in the stockroom, warehouse, or yard by performing the following duties.
- Advises employees on care and preservation of items received, stored, and shipped; methods and use of equipment in handling, storing, maintaining, and shipping stock; and related problems.
- Studies records and recommends remedial actions for reported non-usable, slow-moving, and excess stock.
- Reviews records for accuracy and compliance with procedures, and to determine stock levels.
- Schedules work for inventories.
- Traces item history to resolve discrepancies and recommends remedial actions.
- Determines work procedures, prepares schedules, and expedites workflow.
- Issues instructions and assigns duties, checking work for accuracy, neatness, and policy compliance.
- Standardizes procedures to improve efficiency.
- Maintains harmony among workers, resolves complaints, and adjusts errors.
- Prepares reports from subordinate reports.
- Coordinates with production, quality, and procurement departments to manage inventories.
- Runs reports using SAP and prepares reports in Excel and Word.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly supervises union and non-union employees in the Logistics Department, including hiring, training, performance appraisal, and discipline, in accordance with policies and laws.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of relevant experience with strong communication, organization, and leadership skills preferred. Experience supervising in a union environment and proficiency in Microsoft Office required. Equivalent education and experience considered.
