The A&A Manager is responsible for the efficient, accurate, complete and timely preparation of all A&A work. Advanced technical skills in a variety of accounting and audit areas, along with well-developed and applied management and supervisory skills are required. The A&A Manager supports the Firms goals and values through all professional communications and the maintenance of positive working relationships.
Essential Functions:
A role model who demonstrates consistent integrity within the professional environment and provides the example for Staff to learn from and model for their own success.
Performs higher level A&A engagements and expands ability to perform or supervise new types of engagements.
Demonstrates excellent project management skills, inspires teamwork and responsibility with engagement fo team members, and uses current technology and tools to enhance the effectiveness of deliverables and service.
Is responsible for all phases of audit, review, compilations or other accounting engagements. Plans supervises, reviews and controls A&A engagements of all sizes and complexities for compliance with all professional and firm standards. This includes supervising time budget development and fee recommendations, working with internal staff and clients to plan engagement objectives and strategies.
Communicates with appropriate individuals within the firm, and documents the status of A&A engagements. Keeps Director or Partner informed of all important developments on engagement; analyzes problems and recommends solutions.
Demonstrates a thorough understanding of complex accounting and auditing concepts and their application to client situations.
Continues to develop a specific area of technical expertise or concentration in servicing an segment of clients.
Develops a relationship with key client personnel and provides valuable ideas on an ongoing basis.
Maintains contact with clients throughout the year; possesses a thorough knowledge of the client and all facets of clients business.
Orchestrates and leads (along with Director if one is in place) periodic meetings during busy season with Audit Staff.
Supervises Audit staff and provides on-the-job training.
Possesses a complete knowledge of the firms philosophy and its opinions on A&A matters.
Maintains a knowledge of general economic and political trends of possible tax or other legislation that could affect the business climate.
Monitors engagement budget for potential concerns and suggests fee modification actions.
Achieves an acceptable level of budget realization on services performed and supervised.
Other Functions:
Prepares other reports and projects as requested from time to time by the Partners or Directors.
Researches and evaluates audit and research software for recommendation to the Partners.
Develops personal priority goals and adheres to the goals.
Develops along with the Partners and Directors the teams business plan goals for the year.
Activity participates in community involvement including leadership roles on boards and/or service organizations.
Participates with Partners in marketing efforts, including proposal development and prospect calls.
Actively participates in firms practice development efforts through involvement with referral sources, community and industry activities.
Manages a group of A&A staff, including their career development, training and professional development, productivity and performance.
Evaluates the performance of A&A staff and provides verbal and written feedback regularly.
Proactively mentors and develops the technical and business development skills of A&A staff.
May participate in annual review process of team members.
Participates in other administrative activities or other duties as requested by the Partners and/or Directors.
