Job Description

Vertex is a global biotechnology company investing in scientific innovation. The Digital, Technology and Engineering (DTE) team supports Research Technology & Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing with a mission to improve patients' lives through digital, data, and technology innovation.

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Director, Registration Solutions, to lead our digital evolution initiatives. This role involves developing, implementing, and managing registration solutions and digital platforms that support discovery of new small molecule, cell, and gene therapies, ensuring fast, effective, and compliant registration of molecules, and contributing to Vertex's intellectual property generation.

The role ensures software and data systems align with global research needs, optimize data integrity, and streamline workflows. The Associate Director partners with IT, research, quality, and regulatory teams to enhance digital capabilities, drive automation, and improve operational efficiency.

Key Duties And Responsibilities
Vision and Strategy:
  • Lead design, implementation, and maintenance of registration systems supporting discovery of new molecular entities.
  • Oversee integration of digital solutions managing data flows from experiment capture to analysis.
  • Combine marketplace knowledge with innovation to advance Vertex's needs.
Operational Execution:
  • Collaborate with IT, regulatory, and scientific teams to ensure systems meet business and compliance standards.
  • Focus on data integrity, security, and accessibility to support submissions and reporting.
  • Drive automation and digital transformation initiatives to enhance efficiency.
  • Monitor emerging technologies and trends to maintain compliance and system capabilities.
  • Provide technical leadership for troubleshooting and performance optimization.
Leadership:
  • Execute strategic plans for projects, aligning with organizational goals.
  • Oversee project execution, ensuring timely, budget-conscious, quality delivery.
  • Lead and mentor teams, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand and meet business needs.
  • Monitor and report on KPIs for continuous improvement.
Knowledge And Skills:
  • Experience in technology strategy within scientific research organizations.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Deep understanding of biotech regulatory environment.
  • This hybrid role is based in Boston, MA, requiring 3 days/week on-site.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.
  • Experience with AI and machine learning technologies is highly desirable.
Education And Experience:
  • Bachelor's in a scientific or IT field; Masters preferred.
  • 5+ years in science and technology within pharma.
  • Knowledge of laboratory tech, chemistry, or gene therapy discovery.
  • Proficiency in digital tools and trends.
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives.
  • Pharmaceutical and life sciences experience a plus.
Pay Range:

$165,600 - $248,400

Disclosure Statement:

The salary range is an estimate, with potential bonuses and equity. Actual pay depends on skills, experience, and other factors. Vertex offers comprehensive benefits supporting employee growth and well-being.

Flex Designation:

Hybrid-Eligible or On-Site Eligible

Flex Eligibility Status:

Choose between Hybrid (up to 2 days remote) or On-Site (5 days/week with flexibility). Status may change based on company policy.
