Search Solution Group is seeking a Purchasing Manager on behalf of our client, a manufacturer of industrial equipment for shredding, grinding, and recycling various materials, including wood, plastics, paper, and general waste. The Purchasing Manager will lead the organization's supply chain strategy, manage supplier relationships, and ensure efficient procurement and inventory management. This role plays a critical part in aligning purchasing operations with corporate goals, optimizing cost efficiency, and supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead supply chain strategy and purchasing initiatives in alignment with company objectives.
- Oversee demand planning, inventory management, forecasting, and MRP settings in the ERP system.
- Manage procurement and supplier relationships, including selection, vetting, onboarding, contracts, cost negotiations, and performance monitoring.
- Negotiate long-term agreements and drive cost-saving initiatives with domestic and international vendors.
- Direct strategic sourcing for key components including fabricated steel assemblies, conveyor parts, auxiliary systems, service parts, and imported shredders.
- Oversee indirect sourcing for CapEx, property maintenance, and contract services.
- Utilize proAlpha ERP system to drive MRP effectiveness, including BOM architecture, lead time settings, and consumption parameters.
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, service, and operations teams to align forecasting, scheduling, and delivery expectations.
- Investigate inventory variances, identify root causes, and implement corrective measures.
- Lead process improvement projects, refine workflows, and promote accountability across departments.
- Manage inventory optimization projects, supporting sales growth while reducing inventory value.
- Support CapEx and R&D projects requiring supplier involvement in coordination with engineering leadership.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain leadership.
- Proven track record managing multi-million-dollar budgets and supplier relationships.
- Experience with ERP systems (proAlpha preferred) and strong knowledge of MRP systems.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Supply chain or procurement certifications (e.g., CPSM, CSCP) preferred but not required.
- Deep understanding of strategic sourcing, inventory management, and supplier performance tracking.
- Familiarity with industrial equipment manufacturing and supply chain requirements.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and financial stewardship.
- Strategic thinker with proven leadership abilities.
- Continuous improvement mindset with focus on operational efficiency.
- Strong collaboration skills across cross-functional teams.
