Our Infrastructure Sourcing and Procurement team seeks an experienced Principal Technical Sourcing Manager to lead strategic sourcing, technology road mapping, and project execution for components like Switch ASICs and other critical networking silicon. As a thought leader, you will develop sourcing strategies to reduce costs, minimize risks, ensure supply continuity, and leverage emerging opportunities, supporting AWSs growth and exceeding goals.

Key job responsibilities
General Work Activities
  • Create strategic sourcing plans to satisfy internal clients.
  • Advise on cost reduction, supply base efficiency, and economies of scale.
  • Analyze spending patterns for savings opportunities and become a subject matter expert.
  • Adjust plans and priorities effectively within your area of accountability.
Function Specific Work Activities
  • Lead sourcing engagements and opportunity identification.
  • Develop negotiation strategies to meet business objectives and foster supplier relationships.
  • Analyze and consolidate supply bases using industry tools.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and market positioning.
  • Review and approve supplier lists for bidding, ensuring optimal supply base selection.
  • Negotiate and implement supplier contracts with stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Influence supplier manufacturing and technology decisions beneficial to both parties.
  • Manage key supplier relationships as the primary contact.

Travel required approximately 20%.

A day in the life

You will work closely with business partners to manage Networking Silicon sourcing strategies, collaborating with hardware engineering teams on next-generation hardware launches, managing supplier relationships, and making sourcing decisions that balance security, time to market, technology, quality, and cost.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 6+ years experience in developing, negotiating, and executing business agreements.
  • 6+ years professional or military experience.
  • Bachelors or higher degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, or related fields.
  • 6+ years working with engineering teams on technology roadmaps and sourcing strategies.
  • 6+ years working with executive partners to align strategies.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • MBA or advanced degree.
  • Experience in Enterprise Networking, Hyperscale Networking, Cloud Computing/Storage, or IT Infrastructure.
  • Background in semiconductor industry and supply dependencies.
  • Experience with Hyperscale cloud providers.
  • Data analysis and business recommendation skills.
  • Legal agreement negotiation experience.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical and business concepts clearly.
  • Resilience to push back on decisions misaligned with business goals and propose alternatives.
