Summary
The Manager, FP&A - Operations influences the success of the Operations organization through effective cross-functional coordination with operational leadership and other key departmental peers. Leads financial planning, analysis , and reporting to provide strategic, forward-thinking support to achieve overall organizational goals. Owns short to mid-term (1-3 years) execution and analysis of functional operational strategy. Collaborates with business partners across multiple departments to achieve business objectives and goals for the store operations team specifically pertaining to operations analysis.

  • Performs detailed routine and ad-hoc reviews of company programs to determine appropriate returns in the store operations department.
  • Provides extensive oversight and involvement in the annual budgeting and forecasting process to ensure operational strategies align with annual budgets and interim financial forecasting, including measurement and analysis of actual results versus plan to determine adjustments required to meet organizational priorities, and top-line/bottom-line strategic goals.
  • Evaluates capital and operating spending strategies, effectively reviews opportunity versus risk to achieve a desirable outcome through cash-flow, payback, and ROI analysis.
  • Develops, reports, and analyzes performance on annual goals and KPIs. Provides insights to leadership on effectiveness and causes of change.
  • Prepares and presents management presentation material for monthly forecasts and quarterly business reviews with a proactive approach.
  • Participates in establishing short and long range organizational goals, objectives, and strategic plans. Implement a process for evaluation of performance against goals and updating goals as business needs evolve.
  • Directs and supports labor scheduling systems and initiatives to ensure optimal staffing to drive sales and execution.
  • Oversees time tracking and payroll closing processes for the field operations organization to ensure all associates are paid timely for their work.
  • Designs, implements, and supports field incentive programs to include store level performance goals, contests and SPIFs to drive and reinforce the selling culture.
  • Prepares ad hoc financial and operational analysis reports as requested by the Vice President of Operation Support and the Sr. Vice President of Operations.
  • Contributes to the evaluation and development of operational strategy and performance in working alongside the executive team. Identifies cash flow optimization strategy, develops reliable cash flow models, and ensures a focus on revenue growth and cost management.
  • Develops and produces reporting aimed at providing relevant and actionable information to all levels of the organization in the appropriate form.
  • Leads, mentors, and develops a team of analysts to perform in a proactive and optimal manner to support the operations organization with a high quality of work and attention to detail.
  • Protects the company's assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • The Manager, FP&A - Operations supervises a Senior Analyst, Associate Analyst, and Time Tracking Coordinator. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. Masters degree preferred, but equivalent experience in accounting and financial planning and analysis can be accepted in place of degree requirements.
  • Five plus years of related experience.
  • Two - three years of management experience.
  • Established cross-functional leader with proven-ability to build rapport at all levels of the organization, and high degree of integrity and business ethics.
  • Demonstrated strong communication, leadership, analytical and team-building skills.
  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to tailor information to the appropriate level of detail for the intended user.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially excel, as well as planning and analytics/BI tools such as Workday FIN, Adaptive Solutions, MicroStrategy, Alteryx, and PowerBI.
  • Retail industry accounting experience and skill set, a plus.
