About the Role
Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for supply chain efficiency? We're hiring a Purchasing Manager to lead procurement operations at a fast-paced manufacturing facility just outside of Norwich, CT . In this impactful role, you'll oversee vendor relationships, source quality materials, and implement cost-effective purchasing strategies - all while ensuring the supply chain runs smoothly and production goals are met.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Strategy
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with production goals
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without sacrificing quality
Supplier Management
  • Build and maintain strong vendor partnerships
  • Negotiate favorable contracts, pricing, and service agreements
  • Monitor supplier performance for compliance and reliability
Inventory Control
  • Partner with inventory and production teams to forecast material needs
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to avoid delays or excess stock
Compliance & Risk Management
  • Ensure purchasing activities follow legal and ethical standards
  • Diversify supplier base and create contingency plans for risk mitigation
Team Leadership
  • Lead, coach, and support a team of procurement professionals
  • Promote continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration
Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Analyze market trends and vendor data to guide decisions
  • Deliver regular reporting on purchasing KPIs and cost metrics
What You Bring
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in ERP/procurement systems
  • Deep understanding of supply chain and inventory management
Leadership & Soft Skills
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and analytical abilities
  • Proven leadership skills with a proactive, hands-on approach
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field
  • 5+ years of procurement experience, ideally in manufacturing
  • 2-3 years in a supervisory or team lead role
  • Familiarity with ISO and environmental compliance standards
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
Work Environment
  • Hybrid setting: office and manufacturing floor interaction
  • May involve lifting up to 40 lbs and climbing stairs/ladders
  • Must adapt to evolving production demands and priorities
